History of Slot Machines
Posted in Online Casinos on 25. Apr, 2010
The slot machine is a fairly new invention, created only in the late 1800s by an American in San Francisco. The original slot machine design is impossible to find in casinos today, even though we are very familiar with the concept. You pull down a large lever and the wheels spin to show the results. These “armed” slot machines don’t exist anymore, it has been modernized and upgraded to a simple button. It is true though, that some casinos retain the lever, if only for looks.
As long as the slot machine has existed, it has been a favorite among all casino games. Many like it for it’s simplicity, others like it for the aesthetics, but no matter what your reasoning, slot machines remain the most popular game in the house year after year. If you were asked to imagine a casino, odds are you would first think of the rows and rows of slot machines. Even the atmosphere is created solely by the slot machines. The ringing bells, flashing lights, cascading coins, these are all traits of the slots.
Slots gambling is also easy, it doesn’t involve strategy, cunning, or experience to win big. Betting is easy, there are no raises like card games, just a single bet made repetitively. You don’t play an opponent, only the machine. You don’t need to bluff to deceive, and you can’t those thousands on one hand. All you need is luck to play slot machines!
